Wool, Fair Isle | 2022

This is an original design, and my main goal with this piece was to develop my charting and knitting skills as a pattern designer.

Each stitch in knitting is like a digital pixel on a computer screen. Complex patterns are developed out of simple building blocks, but combining patterns with multiple colors and organic shapes increases the complexity.

A pattern like this gets charted on graph paper, and then the knitter must work the pattern by bringing colors to the front or dropping them behind as the pattern dictates.
