Egg Drop Vest

Wool, Intarsia | 2022

This was a design I adapted to teach myself Intarsia.

Intarsia is a specific technique used to create color block patterns with multiple balls of yard. In Intarsia, when a color changes on a given row, the old yarn is left hanging rather than being carried behind the pattern like in Fair Isle.

The end result is fields of different colors that appear to be inlaid in one another and fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. On the back of the work, you can see how the color blocks lock into one another.
